If you are calling to report any suspicious activity or active crimes, call the
Adams County Control Emergency - dial 911.
If you are not sure if your report is an emergency, you can call the
non-emergency number (24 hours) at 624-2101. It is very important you report
your observations. Your call may stop a crime before it occurs.
The Conewago Twp Police Department has a long and proud history of
service to the Community. Twenty four hour protection is provided to our
citizens using the latest in technology and equipment. Our officers are
highly trained and are provided continuing education and training.
The Conewago Township Police Department oversees a number of programs implemented to benefit the residents of Conewago Twp.
**Hanover Area Child ID Program- This program provides kits with instant current photo and DNA information in case of a missing child report. Time is very important in these cases. Photos can be quickly posted in Amber Alert broadcasts. Several Child ID Events are scheduled throughout the year and are advertised through the local media.
**Crime Prevention Notice - A crime prevention program where patrols monitor residential conditions such as open garage doors where contents are exposed. Police will also spot items on property that pose a threat for theft. Green “hang-tags” are discretely placed when exposures exist. Homeowner’s are asked to secure possessions noted on tag. The Crime Prevention Program Notice is for your safety and security, and helps deter residential theft.
**College Prep Internship- The Conewago Twp Police Department is active in support of college students in their endeavors in pursuing a career in law enforcement. Often schools require students to perform an internship as part of their accredited course. After review of course requirements, township resident students accompany our officers, learning the police functions of the Department.
**Tech Prep Program- The Conewago Twp Police Department assists Adams County High School students enrolled in police courses through the Tech Prep Program in Gettysburg. Students participate in Department visits and ride-alongs.
**Child Safety Seat Requirements: Please log on to www.dot.state.pa.us to obtain Information on the Child Safety Seat Laws in Pennsylvania. Click on Drive Safe Pa tab.
**PA Windshield Wiper/Headlight Law: Pennsylvania law requires that during the use of windshield wipers, headlights must also be on. Please log on to www.psp.state.pa.us for information relating to this law.
In addition, the Conewago Township Police is proud to offer the Neighborhood Watch Program and the Bicycle Registration Program. Information can be obtained by clicking on the link. We also regulate Solicitation in the Twp. All solicitors are subject to background checks before being issued a permit to solicit. Conewago Twp Police keep resident safety in mind at all times. Neighborhood Watch
Program
Volunteers Needed.... click here for details...
The Neighborhood Watch Program helps deter crime and promotes community
policing. We strongly encourage participation. The program promotes citizens
to report suspicious activity and persons. Neighborhood Watch Meetings are held
periodically. E-mail Alerts are broadcast when necessary to keep residents
abreast of current crimes in their neighborhoods. To become a member simply
sign up at
ct-pdadmin@earthlink.net and begin receiving e-mail alerts. The e-mail
alerts report descriptions on suspicious vehicles/persons in the area, crimes
being committed, safeguards, updates on arrests made and other relevant
information concerning community policing. Please click on the Neighborhood
Watch Program link for more information.
